Albet i Noya, pioneers in organic vineyards and viticulture since 1978. Located in the heart of Sant Pau d’Ordal, we have made our terraces and vineyards in the Ordal mountains our most identifying seal. We produce still and sparkling wines within the Penedès Denomination of Origin, backed by a long tradition of
five generations on the Can Vendrell de la Codina estate. Creativity, innovation, curiosity and respect for nature have been, and will continue to be, our reason for being.

It was the fourth and current generation, with Josep Maria Albet i Noya at the helm, who introduced the current organic farming methods to the vineyards at the end of the 1970’s and it became the first winery in Spain to make 100% organic wines.

Albet i Noya has always been a pioneer in the world of organic farming, not only because it was the first to work without chemical products on the Iberian Peninsula, but also for the many experimental projects that it has launched and which have contributed to create new paths in viticulture. Among all these advances, the recovery of ancestral varieties (which has provided such special wines as Marina Rión or Belat) has been highlighted, or the research and planting of Resistant and Native Varieties Adapted to Climate Change (VRIAACC in its Catalan acronym).

The objective of this project is to research new native varieties of plants (currently working with Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada, Tempranillo and Red Grenache) that are resistant to pests such as oidium and mildew and which can entirely eliminate the use of copper in vineyards and reduce applications of sulphur by 90%.
