Forward Gourmet is a Catalan company representing family-owned wineries from the different Catalan regions that produce extraordinary wines and cava; a number of which are artisan, organic or organically farmed. This time, we are happy to introduce the following wineries:

Jaume Giró i Giró is one of the most historic cellars in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. The family enterprise started in the middle of the 19th century by their farming ancestors. It is known for the production of hand produced cavas in very limited quantities. It’s a boutique winery offering top quality cavas that reflect a creative genius, using the “Methode Champenoise”. It is currently run by the enologist, Ramon Giró Gramona, the third generation of the family who has propelled it forward in the production and quality of his products.

The Bolet family has cultivated vineyards and elaborated wine for over seven generations. Over the years they planted new wines and today, they cultivate 70 hectares located in different areas and altitudes on Castellví de la Marca (Barcelona), in the heart of the Penedès region. White varieties like Macabeu, Xarel·lo, Parellada, Chardonnay, Muscat of Alexandria, Muscat de Frontignac and Gerwürztraminer and also red varietals like Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are all cultivated under an organic production since 2003. They start with a through work in the vineyards to obtain the maximum quality for their wines because their philosophy is to cultivate, elaborate and commercialize only wines from their own vineyards with the maximum potential.

Josep Gómez Puig. DOQ Priorat is an exiting wine region, with black slate (licorella), at high altitudes, where Carignan, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on terraces. The wines are produced in a sustainable and artisan way and the product: a classic wine with a modern touch. The family wine experience dates back generations and in 1995 Josep started his own bodega where he now produces high quality red and white wines.

Casa Berger. At the end of the 19th Century, the Berger family, together with the Moritz family, immigrated to Catalonia from the Alsace region of France. The Berger´s decided to go into the world of wine and settled in Vilafranca while Moritz family started making beer in the now famous Moritz brewery in Barcelona. Recently, the youngest of the winery, the Virgilli brothers, have revolutionized the cellar with a very clear objective: That young people become “wine addicts”! Having fun and falling in love with the wine world, through fun, original concepts, great wines and good times.
